Describe, reference, note

Make the shot exist outside your head, then work from it like anyone else would.

Steps to follow:

  1. Write one sentence describing the shot you want.
  2. Get three reference images for it: stills from a film you like, stock photos or an image generator.
  3. Pick the closest one.
  4. Write a shot note from it: camera position, how close, which direction the light comes from and one thing in focus.
  5. Keep the image and the note together in one file for the shoot.
